Outside Family Photography Sessions Around Edinburgh.
Session Fee £75 for up to 10 people... so even Grandma can come.
Please plan ahead. August and September are our busiest months for outdoor family sessions and, for these sessions, we open our booking schedule 1 year in advance and bookings are taken on a first come first service basis. If you would like to go on our waiting list so you can be notified as soon as these sessions come available, then please fill out the contact form below with your preferred dates and we will call you when it is time to book.

As a Mum, I know the idea of getting all the kids looking great, smiling at the same time and looking in the right direction sounds like an impossible feat, but I am here to tell you I make the impossible happen!! 'How do you do it?', I hear you ask! Well... apart from a big handful of magic...it mainly comes down to making it fun and relaxed. What could be easier than going on a nice, calm walk around one of my Castle locations. Then throw in a silly-billy photographer who all the kids laugh at and BOOM magic does happen!
When choosing which of our Castle locations is right for you, there are a few things I want you to consider:
1: The ages of your children
While we can accommodate young children at both locations, we recommend Lauriston Castle for under 4 years olds and sessions times there are at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm on weekdays.
2: The size of your group
Larger groups (over six people) are also best at Lauriston Castle and it is also a very easy location for older family members to get around if mobility is a consideration.
3: Your availability
Do you work Mon-Fri 9-5? Or do the kids have after school activities? If either of these applies to you then a Crichton Castle Sunset Session will suit you best. I shoot out there most nights during August and September.
4: The "look" you like the best
Have a look at the two galleries below; each location has different look to them. Lauriston Castle has a greener look, while Crichton Castle has a certain romance to it. Consider which would look the best on your walls at home...
Leading up to your session we ask that you start to consider how you would like to display your family’s portraits. Is there a place above the fireplace in need of a family portrait? Does baby’s room look amazing, but with nothing on the walls? Would you like to create a family heirloom that can be handed down the generations, like a personalised album with handwritten messages of love from extended family members? Start talking to the extended family about how they would like to display their family member. With either small side-table art pieces or a personalised app for their phone so they can show all their friends when they are out.
Your photography session will be 1 hour and this allows time to photograph everyone individually and together. Two weeks after your photography session you are invited to come and view your images at our EH16 Studio, in Edinburgh.
Things to think about two or three weeks before your session:
1. Make a hair appointment!
2. Think about outfits - don't play matchy matchy but see below for ideas on colour etc
3. Have Plan B for your outfits incase of good old Scottish weather! Get your wellies ready as I don't cancel unless the weather is torrential.
